Teri discusses the issue of using video comment feature across the deaf blogosphere, and the safety tip of using your user name (screen name) in the v/blogland.
DeafVideo.tv Comment No. 13: http://www.deafvideo.tv/video/watch/18540/
Update # 1: Hope Tayler will restore those 15 comments especially mine, the No. 13. I explained how does WP work and that all the missing video comments are still existing on the video server, Seesmic — nothing to do with YouTube.
Creating a new gravatar: http://en.gravatar.com/
Update # 2: Sorry for some missing comments… I forgot to back up the database via MyPHPAdmin right before I did the experiment. Apparently, I was right about what happened at DeafVideo. I am glad Tayler took care of it.
Update # 3: This post was turned on as a private one for several hours. Thanks to some readers for notifying me of this problem. I do not know how did it happen. I played around with WP and its database last night and this early morning. I sure learned a lot more about WP and its files.

Hi Teri-
Thank you for giving advice about Gravatar. I will do it in the fall. I need a new pair of glasses and lose some little weight to make myself to look “ok” in the picture. I am no photogenic like you, I Am Mine and some others. Smile. Yes I have seen many tapes and commenters disappeared for good. To be quite frank with you, I danced last night in my midget bedroom and few times today. The information about the misconception of DBC and the mockery about Deafhood which were spread all over the world were supposed to be erased and destroyed. We had allowed misinterpretations about our community for 100 years. I told myself for a month that I wanted so badly for some tapes to be destroyed. I told myself there is no way we can do it because we have freedom of speech. But with God’s miracle work…The Supreme Being did it for us. Believe it or not I am so happy today. I pray that Tayler could not retrieve them back. Of course I am sad to see some tapes from wonderful vloggers were gone.

Yea, I saw that most video and video comments vanished at DVTV today. Even the record of hits, etc. Gone. Opps.
Gravatar is in process of talking with Blogger last I checked but there are some third party plug-ins for Blogger. I just turned on my avatar or mini pic for my Blogger site and it will appear on the side after my posting.
Speaking of archiving, I happen to do the same lately after closing my first youtube account along with DVTV recently and did some re=organizing of my vlogs. Apparently I kept most of my vlogs ‘cept a couple original raw video files from 2006 that are missing and the recent DeafRead Conference personal pix/vids I believe that I lost via a HD format.
If anyone has the .flv files of my two parts, “Wish You Were Here” Feb 2007 conference videos, send it my way!

new topic for a change!
yes, funny just recently I wondered the same thing about how to have backups of all video comments either at Seesmic and Riffly. What if something went wrong with a server and all recorded files were lost. It would be nice to have an efficient system to have backups without doing exhausting tasks, ya know, like copying links and such.
Also another concern is abuse by other people. For example, they could use links to embed into other websites without owners’ permission.
It would be nice to have a plug-in that you could record and save recorded files on your blog database for archiving and backups.

Tayler was able to retrieve videos and commenters back into place this evening. I guess I can’t dance anymore. It is so unfortunate that Deafread/Deafvideo.tv welcome lies and destruction to our community. Editors have witnessed parents being confused with continuous conflicting information. Sometimes I wonder if Deafread is a lot worse that Mr. Alexander Graham Bell. It is high likely possibility. It is always fascinating to observe editors to have a life while accepting and approving myths and corruption messages about our future of Deaf children. I guess Joey, Patti Durr and many others are smart for not wanting to be part of this. I understand that Deafread support freedom of speech and they might not agree with some of bloggers/vloggers yet they have no conscience or whatsoever for approving misconceptions and myths about our community. I am still waiting one day that we will have a new website where truth can only be published. That will be blessing in disguise and let all myths and misinformation flow directly to Deafread. When will we see it happened? We must have it very soon. Time is literally running out.
Teri- I might have a strong personality but I think it has to do with me for NOT knowing how to ignore people when they misinformed or lies to our community. I am amazed to see many people do not care or could ignore it completely. It is always hard for me to ignore things like that. Ben Vess…I was shocked to see him on video signing beautifully. I thought he was not a fluent signer because he writes like Harvard scholars. LOL. Impressive. Yes he has a strong personality but I think he is meaner than me. Smile. I am sure he will get better as he gets older.
Thanks for your encouragement re; showing myself in the video. Maybe someday I will do that. Maybe I should drink margarita first. LOL. I had few friends who were concerned about me and wanted me to use “anonymous” to protect myself. I couldn’t do it because I can’t hide myself and that would be like living in lie. Again, thanks for your encouragement.
