As an alumna, former employee, and visitor, of the Gallaudet University, I have an interest in the survival of the beautiful old university not only for its history, but for its deaf heritage. I was most encouraged by Roz's letter detailing how the Board of the Trustee members should steer the magnificent ship, Gallaudet, out of the storm.

To have IKJ navigate this seaworthy vessel of deaf culture would be acceptable. However, to have Gallaudet sink and left to decay on the ocean floor of history with JFK at the helm, would be a crime. The Board members, JFK, and IKJ seem opposed to change and to propose to a new idea or solution. They are not only masters of a sinking ship, but are one themselves.

They, I am sure, have discussed this issue at length and its decision strikes me as singular. There must be some stolen gold hidden in the hold caught in a storm swirling all the way across the ocean. They seem to make an attempt to maneuver the ship toward the South where they will be welcome without the demand of exposing the truth.

Its intelligent members should think again and give this piece of history a chance to survive and help restore Gallaudet. They should have sought the North Star, the worldwide deaf community to help guide the ship out of its dangerous sea, not having it capsized in a swell of discontent and disillusionment.

Please do not let JKF command our majestic vessel into a perfect storm of the destruction of deaf culture. Find a new captain who will look at the brightest star in the sky to help navigate.

PS: Please notice several vlogs closing in with a bursting star going northward. It says all.

PSS: Thank you, Roz for the great letter!

Ramy Bustmante emailed me to see if we could set up having a live feed. We the Riverside for FSSA committee were not sure how to have it happen in such a short notice. Guess what! Ramy and I made it work in my classroom, and paged our colleagues to let them know of the "live feed" broadcasted from Gallaudet Student Activity Center where the rally was. A handful of people showed up including several VIPs — just within 15 minutes of our announcement to the Riverside deaf community. We were amazed at how fast we got it together and had people come in 15 minutes! We saw Ryan Commerson and Chris Corrigan giving a short presentation, and Joe Dannis. He was surprised to see his children online. It was so sweet! Let's tune in! (7 minutes) Thanks, Drew Gutches (on the other end) for helping make it happen!

The committee decided to give several hoodie sweatshirts to the most proactive Gallaudet Protest Leaders. This vlog shows several people preparing to send the gifts in Joe Dannis' garage. A short and sweet vlog. (4 minutes)

There was quite a bunch of Californians getting together to show support for FSSA. They made a good deal of money for FSSA and GUAA. They had pizza and spaghetti for lunch, listened several speeches, cheered with Fremont and Riverside cheerleaders, as well as our famous pair signed, FSSA version Bison song. It was so nice seeing people from different regions in the state being united and in spirit together. (14 minutes)

Last night, Alumni & Parent Representatives, Riverside for FSSA Committee, and Alumni who witnessed the protest delivered their speeches before the audience supporting the demands of GU FSSA. We collected plenty of donations from the Riverside folks. Bison Song included! More information on the Gally Rally Round Two will be posted on Riverside for FSSA website. (14 minutes)

As the night folded around us, the players, we felt for the protests being arrested, our minds slipping away from the game, toward the horrors of a future at Gallaudet. Even we are far, far away, we, The Trippers of SoCal are with you . . . (12 minutes)
