As an alumna, former employee, and visitor, of the Gallaudet University, I have an interest in the survival of the beautiful old university not only for its history, but for its deaf heritage. I was most encouraged by Roz's letter detailing how the Board of the Trustee members should steer the magnificent ship, Gallaudet, out of the storm.

To have IKJ navigate this seaworthy vessel of deaf culture would be acceptable. However, to have Gallaudet sink and left to decay on the ocean floor of history with JFK at the helm, would be a crime. The Board members, JFK, and IKJ seem opposed to change and to propose to a new idea or solution. They are not only masters of a sinking ship, but are one themselves.

They, I am sure, have discussed this issue at length and its decision strikes me as singular. There must be some stolen gold hidden in the hold caught in a storm swirling all the way across the ocean. They seem to make an attempt to maneuver the ship toward the South where they will be welcome without the demand of exposing the truth.

Its intelligent members should think again and give this piece of history a chance to survive and help restore Gallaudet. They should have sought the North Star, the worldwide deaf community to help guide the ship out of its dangerous sea, not having it capsized in a swell of discontent and disillusionment.

Please do not let JKF command our majestic vessel into a perfect storm of the destruction of deaf culture. Find a new captain who will look at the brightest star in the sky to help navigate.

PS: Please notice several vlogs closing in with a bursting star going northward. It says all.

PSS: Thank you, Roz for the great letter!

The new blog, Riverside for FSSA is now available to the public! There is a lot of good information for parents of Gallaudet students. Please let me know if you have any information to share with Riverside folks. I will be very happy to post them for you. Please remember to write letters to Congress, CA senators, Gallaudet Board of Trustees, and I King Jordan. View
