Darn, I could not sleep … apparently I had too much sleep from being bedridden throughout the day today.  So I browsed several blogs, few links here and there.  Some read, some skimmed, some clicked away, some commented.

Just away to kill my time.

After the wander in the deaf blogsphere, specifically the Deafread, I checked my blog to see how many posts had gone through there. I saw my latest post on the top and I was not too happy with the title. I told myself that I should rename that post to . . . "Life Imitates Art - A Mona Lisa Smile."

That was my original title, however, I thought it was somewhat egoistic so I changed it to " Life Imitates Art - I Found Myself Smiling . . .” instead of the former one, to be more . . . umm . . . humble.

A second thought why?

Honest? It is the deaf world! In fact I always have to be cautious what I have to say. I am sure many of you feel the same way except Ridor (I truly admire him for being straight-from-the-shoulder).

Life Imitates . . . ? Art Imitates . . .? (pondering)

So, here’s my third thought. Frick whatever world am I in! Blog, Deaf, Hearing. Just title my posts any way I want! "Life Imitates Art - A Mona Lisa Smile." So be it. It is very clever one, really.

Go above and beyond.

The first three words of its title are derived from a famous controversial quote and dialogue between two gentlemen, Vivian and Cyril in the essay, “The Decay of Lying” by an Irish writer, poet, and playwright, Oscar Wilde.

Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)

His essay discusses the imagination (that’s his meaning of lying) being existed in society and art. It is really interesting especially the argument on how we perceive the nature.  There is a section that addresses how people see fog after observing an art done by impressionist painting London fog in a lovely way – viewing that picture and that created nature.

He believed that art must be above and beyond both nature and life since it can change our outlook.

Interesting?

Here is a good example — Look at the portrait of me (the one Rob created).  It does create some kind of effects  — affecting your perception of what I may look like in person.  I may look better to you than to others who never see that artwork.  ;)

I can go on forever descanting on his work – end up writing an e-book.

Bill and I sometimes have a debate on this quote – the perspectives of society and art –even that morning before I posted my entry on Rob’s beautiful art.

Anyway . . .

During my trip to Deafread, I refreshed the front page to see some new entries, my heart jumped when I first saw the very same title, "Life Imitates Art . . ." (the first three words) posted by Joey.  “What?” I exclaimed in sign mentally.  I actually thought that my title might inspire someone.  So I checked it out there.  Very excellent vlog!  That’s so Amy!

Amy Cohen Efron

Naturally, I had this burning question — how in the world did we come up with the same title (almost) on the very same day.  So I sent her an email and got her reply. Good enough some private emails sneaked into my inbox  –including from Joey, not to mention a somewhat negative comment left on my blog.

Here is an excerpt from Amy’s email – explaining how she came up with the title.  It is very interesting.  “A Behind-the-Scene” thing.

Oh lordy…  im cc'ing to Joey Baer if you don't mind…

I created this vlog last night with this topic because based on what I've seen between Ridor/Berke bashfest… and one of the commentors said about Rosie and Donald feud… and I thought  nah… its more of howard stern — and then I was thinking  this reminds me of the quote "life imitates art" so I did some research with Oscar Wilde and realized that the further I checked, Andy Warhol made that quote too differently!

It was taped yesterday at 6pm and done last night at 3am. I shared this vlog with joey baer because he wanted to host this on his vlog…  and i always have this topic on mind since Sunday.  We had our 'video-editing session'!   This might be the first of kind between Bay Area and Atlanta at 1:30 in the morning!   Amazing?

This morning I saw your blog - and I said to myself,  oh MY GAWD   you thought of that too?  What a sychroncity!  I even read Mishka Zena's blog and my god it is so relevant!  It seems like everyone wants to MOVE on after this petty bashfest…  it is surprising!

The RipOff comment — u can attest that…  it is not because I stole from you –  I just felt that this reminds me of how Life is imitating ART!  OR ART imitates life?   it is becoming too entertaining and the line between what is entertainment or reality is becoming so blurred!

I love your blog - and the former student of yours art work really flattered you… u are blessed!

Hugs!
Amy

Is not it amazing that she and I often think alike!?! Resonare and Wilde’s Quote!?! Awesome!  Great minds think alike.  J

Mind-blogging! WHAT makes us share our thoughts with the world, alike?  Life? Art? Values? Beliefs? Truths?

That reminds me of a quote by one of my favorite Cubism artists, Pablo Picasso.  "We all know that art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth."

Wilde certainly leaves us many questions about beliefs, values, and desires — how we should interpret or model them.

One more great quote by Wilde: "Life is never fair…And perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not."

Good night. This time I will force myself count sheep jumping over the fence.  How about counting how many time Wilde roll in his grave! :)

Written as is.

Note to RipOff: Should Amy's email prove you that she did not copylift the title off of this blog.

Hi Readers,

Let's say . . . run amok! A problem! I know many of you are looking forward to seeing my full version of " Runs the Gamut: An Analysis & Interpretation of Resonare. I had several some computer glitches. I lost some of my work, however I managed to save the first half of it — long enough to produce a part one vlog. This is just an explanation of the delay. I do not want to leave my readers in the dark too long! The first part of vlog will be up and running in a few minutes. Bear with me.

Last night, I caught up reading news at CNN.com and BBC. com (my favorite news web site), and found this interesting, yet strange article on BBC. It discusses several disabled men becoming strippers. That reminds me of the British film, “The Full Monty". It's about several unfortunate guys who lose their job and seek self-respect.

When I first learned the word, “Crippendales". Awesome. I thought the title was hilarious. And I could laugh without feeling bad! That they can "make fun" of themselves. They are the guys with high self-respect!!

That prompted me to think what about deaf guys? Hey you hot deaf guys go sign up! Be proud being hot and deaf! One of the disabled men in the group, Crippendales is named the runner up sexiest man in Yorkshire. What about the deaf world? Who is the sexiest deaf man alive?

Speaking of the film, “ Full Monty", it is one of my favorite British films. It is a combination of humor and light drama. It illustrates the effects of unemployment among the several guys. They lose all senses of themselves as men. They are desperate for cash and happiness. They decide to do a strip show despite not being near as the tanned and toned professionals. At the end of movie, they gain self-respect even thought their career prospects do not improve. It is a bittersweet movie.

Do leave some deaf guys' names (including married guys, of course) in comment box or email me. I will create a poll soon. Cool??

Update: Hey folks, IMHO, I think men who have such great personalities and do good deeds, have sense of humor are sexy, no matter how they look! Appearance is not always important. What matters most is the inner beauty — more than the outside appearance of a person.Tthere are people who are beautiful on the outside but not on the inside, which makes them look ugly. Outer beauty fades away over years and inner beauty stays forever.

Warning: For men, you may not want to read the BBC article. The headline above is enough birth control for a month, or if you would like to be able to urinate later. When I first read the article and saw the picture of such a weird device, I cringed. Even though I am not a male, I can imagine how painful itis to having your nuts drilled a hole.

Maybe I ought to sign “thumbs up" since men do get away a lot pertaining to reproduction. Many unwanted pregnancies. No experience of giving births. Many women undergoing many painful experience dealing with birth control such as IUD or tubal ligation. You boys don't know how lucky you have it. If I had a simple method of sterilizing myself whether is it vasectomy or IVD, I'd be all over it.

Inserting an IUD or having a tubal ligation isn't something your doctor can perform in 30 minutes; more or less, and then send you home with an ice pack.

In the article, there is a quote, "Men want to control their own destinies" That's a funny way of saying "Men don't want to support for kids they don't want" Maybe men should not whine if they do not want having garnishments from their salary for the next 18 years.

On a serious note, if you do really need a kind of birth control other than using condoms, I recommend that you wait for companies to produce that in pill form only for those who are very responsible to remember taking it daily. Yes, I sympathize you men.

Guess what kind of meat is it? In China, people believe this delicacy will boost man sex drive. A big hint!?! A couple days ago, I read this article on BBC.com and felt I must share it. It's really weird, shocking, and thought-provoking. P-n-s for dinner? I know for sure the weiner isn't a muscle, it's soft tissue. . . probably more like brain in texture. You know people do eat offal dishes. Brain is one of the variety meat. Remember blood carries blood sugar, nutrients and oxygen, all vital to brain for its to function. So, I rather to eat brain, not dead meat stick. You know what goes through the latter! Although should the popularity continue to rise (pardon the pun), I could envision seeing a new fast food at ball games. Instead of a corndog, you could be eating a horndog (that's my husband's thought). I understand some celebrities have been seen in these establishments. Apparently it even drove Pamela Anderson from her vegetarian diet! But remember, you are what you eat.

Admittedly, I chuckled when I first saw the picture sent by a dear friend of mine. I know that obesity is not a laughing matter. I have to put in two cents.

Whether it is French food or McDonald meal, we can still get fat or thin!

First, I have often been asked how did not I ever become obese even after giving ten births. Mind you, I am still about twelve pounds over my ideal weight -the leftover from the last two pregnancies. I am still working on it, and this time is not as easy and quick as the old days in my 20’s and 30’s.

Are there any secrets? I often tell people I do not have any special tips but one big advice. This is what is always open and available to us. Oops! I am afraid it is not only one solution, however it is the most important of all. There are some valuable advices. I will tell you another time. Let’s focus on that no. 1 recommendation.

Many of us do not listen our mother or/and grandmother. They echo this word, “moderation”. That’s the simple open secret. When I was little, I was often scolded for eating two or three scoops of ice cream, even a big platter of healthy food voraciously -like a pig. My deaf grandmother often said that having one ball of ice cream is enough and not to devour food too fast. She was right.

Viola! Eating slowly and in moderation is the key to staying slim.

Up to this day, she still talks about how people live and eat nowadays – in the fast lane. Also she DOES think that we, the people of this generation are either bad or stupid. Yes, she is such an old-fashioned elder, however I do agree that we live in a constant haste.

Not all the people are idiots, just that they are ignorant of the time, life, and weight management, and how to be on a well-balanced diet– not to relying on fast food restaurants or processed foods all the time. Today we race around looking for short cuts and making bad choices justifying our bad habits by saying we have no time to fix healthy or homemade meals.

Keep in mind, it‘s okay to grab a hamburger or pop a frozen food package in a microwave sometimes — no, I mean very seldom. My family? me? We rarely go out for fast food, or buy frozen, processed, or canned food. Truly am I grateful for having such a wonderful husband, who cooks hearty cuisine almost everyday –be it French, Nouvelle, Italian, Irish, Thai, Chinese, Japanese (including homemade sushi), American, even from “nothing”. Eating variety of food is one of the commandents of living in moderation.

Hang on your grandmother(mother)’s word. Adopt a moderate lifestyle.

Bon appetit!

Until I saw the picture, I never thought up of people having such n-k-d weddings . I bet the grooms and brides (maybe the parents of theirs) saved a lot of moola — cutting down on wedding expenses such as tuxedos, wedding dress, maid dresses, and so on. What a unique idea!

By the way, take a good look at the picture. Notice the little kids. What happened to the world?!? Crazy are they or we? Bare should we go, sometimes for the sake of our birthday suit and gray matter– it needs to breathe or think freely at least 24 hours from time to time! Me? Only in private (blushing) because I am an American! Darn it! We live in the land of freedom, yet we cannot expose ourselves pubicly! Uhumm! What do you think? eh?
