An anniversary post  (Oct. 13th 2006). . .

It shows the gathering of several deaf women playing the Tripoley game on Black Friday (last year) and it was cut short after finding out about the arrests being made at Gallaudet.  It is a priceless document  — showing several deaf women getting together and giving FSSA their support.

Previous Post:

"As the night folded around us, the players, we felt for the protests being arrested, our minds slipping away from the game, toward the horrors of a future at Gallaudet. Even we are far, far away, we, The Trippers of SoCal are with you . . ."

Question: Where were you on that fateful day?

Note: Tripping Over?  Well, it is a word play — we call ourselves as Trippers. Gotcha? :)

Hey folks, I regret to say that the first Q & A, and last two Qs & As were not recorded. I ran out of blank tapes right after the speech. I did not expect that the event would last more than three hours. I had to ramble about the room looking for a blank tape, and realized Mark B. and I were only ones videotaping the event. He run out of blank tapes a long time before me. I was quick enough to grab some cassettes being already recorded and rewinded them a little bit. They were taped over some previous events! That was the best I could do.

Donalda Ammons delivered a passionate speech on Gallaudet protest before the Riverside deaf community at CSDR on November 3rd, 2006. She divulged a lot of NEW information such as “Plan B”, and two FSSA reps hiding at the Hyatt Hotel where BoT conferenced, and so on. Let’s tune in.

Update: I apologize about the site being down for the first half of day. The server was crashed this early morning. It was finally up and running sometime before noontime. The readers and I could not post any new information or comments until around 5 PM. Thanks, Dustin Williams for all the help having it back to normal.

The 11/3 event at CSDR featuring several interesting speakers who were at Gallaudet Protest, was wonderful charged with exuberance and positive energy. It was a true experience of unity. The opportunity to get together as a community was enhanced by the richness of the culture. That feeling of unity is what added that unique flavor and depth to the experience. It causes a significant behavioral change and a shift in attitude in a unique way. The CSDR community and other deaf communities are now noticeably happier and proactive. There is a definite buzz in the air.

Unity for Gallaudet & Deaf People!

Update: Do not worry, I will post a vlog on Donalda's speech tonight. It was not easy editing — from almost 4 hours to 22 minutes!

After the announcement of JKF's termination, Riverside for FSSA Committee called the deaf community to join them celebrating at El Torito Mexican Restaurant during the Happy Hour on Monday, Oct. 30. There are several comments made by the Riverside folks. The video looks somewhat dark. Try to adjust the brightness control of your monitor. Sorry, it was videotaped inside a low-lighted area. It was unavoidable! (9 minutes)

Ramy Bustmante emailed me to see if we could set up having a live feed. We the Riverside for FSSA committee were not sure how to have it happen in such a short notice. Guess what! Ramy and I made it work in my classroom, and paged our colleagues to let them know of the "live feed" broadcasted from Gallaudet Student Activity Center where the rally was. A handful of people showed up including several VIPs — just within 15 minutes of our announcement to the Riverside deaf community. We were amazed at how fast we got it together and had people come in 15 minutes! We saw Ryan Commerson and Chris Corrigan giving a short presentation, and Joe Dannis. He was surprised to see his children online. It was so sweet! Let's tune in! (7 minutes) Thanks, Drew Gutches (on the other end) for helping make it happen!
